Social benefits & responsibility
The development and health of our employees are important to us – because they form the foundation of our company and are the basic prerequisite for sustainable corporate development.
This entails a variety of aspects, such as attentiveness to the needs of our employees in terms of nutrition and health: for instance a delicious breakfast or lunch with colleagues and the opportunity to simply switch off and enjoy.
With Essenszeit, the company operating our cafeteria, we have a partner on board who makes precisely that possible. Culinary highlights that enthuse us every day and, at the same time, are true to the principle of sustainability.
Essenszeit attaches great importance to using regional products in organic quality and consistently offers seasonal cuisine. Special meal requests are also possible. In addition, there is at least one vegetarian – and sometimes also a vegan – dish on offer every day, as well as a lavish salad buffet.
Besides healthy nutrition, our company also has numerous sport activities on offer for our employees. Because exercise makes for fun and fosters team spirit and motivation.
Best example: our HERMES KICKERS – a diversely mixed troupe of soccer enthusiasts in which everyone from trainees to long-standing, older colleagues, from hobby players to club players, train together. The highlight every year for the team and the large DMAG fan base is the traditional AUMA soccer tournament, in which the participating teams from the trade fair industry association's various member companies come together in a relaxed atmosphere to compete with each other. This year's tournament was held in Utrecht in the Netherlands. With heart and passion, our team managed to bring the title back with them to Hannover for the second time in a row. Since then, the challenge trophy has been on display for admiring eyes in our foyer. We are proud of our HERMES KICKERS and look forward to their defense of the title next year in Nuremberg.
Non-soccer players can keep fit by taking part in our "fair balance" program. Besides yoga and Pilates courses, this program includes various offerings put together by our in-house health management team. These include, for example, workshops on stress management, but also preventive examinations such as skin cancer screening, VDU workstation precautions, or the vaccination card check.
In cooperation with Turn-Klubb zu Hannover (TKH), we have been offering regular running training since 2018 and support our employees' participation in running events such as the Hannover Marathon or the B2Run. Digital sports offerings round off the TKH program. Our employees thus benefit from more than 20 hours of sport per week in the areas of fitness, health sports, yoga and Pilates.
We also place importance on social commitment. For example, all interested employees are given one day off a year for community action in a volunteer day.
Since 2018, our employees have been supporting the wish tree campaign run by Aktion Sonnenstrahl e. V. – a non-profit association in Hannover. Every year at Christmas time, the tree, which was specially made by our carpenters, is decorated with colorful slips of paper bearing small heartfelt wishes from children and young people from socially disadvantaged families, which our employees are happy to fulfil.
And of course, we also participate every year in the "Future Day" for students in grades 5 to 10 to give them a glimpse behind the scenes of the trade fair world and pique their interest in an apprenticeship or a job in our company.
