Hanover. The surface technology industry is still facing challenges that need to be faced. There are the legal regulations and requirements for environmental protection in the handling of chemicals (keyword PFAS), waste disposal and emissions. Also there is the rapid development of technologies, such as AI in surface technology and materials, which entail constant adjustments and investments in surface technology equipment and processes. Not forgetting the scarcity of resources such as water, energy and raw materials, which are often required in large quantities for the work processes.

Innovative technologies, investment in research and development and close co-operation with partners and customers are important prerequisites for meeting these challenges. SurfaceTechnology GERMANY reflects these requirements and offers exhibiting companies and visitors a unique portfolio of solutions through the combination of exhibition and Expert Forum on topical issues.

New products and innovations on show

"The highlights of the event are to be found on the exhibition area, with around 240 national and international companies travelling to Stuttgart with many innovations and products in their luggage. These include the joint stands, such as that of the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO), the “Process Chain Surface Technology” (WOTech GbR) and the Pavilions from Italy, Japan and Turkey. The VDMA will be represented with an information stand," explains Christoph Nowak, Project Director of SurfaceTechnology GERMANY at Deutsche Messe AG.

Expert Forum as a knowledge platform and source of inspiration

"The SurfaceTechnology GERMANY Expert Forum will provide concentrated expertise every 20 minutes on all three days of the trade fair. With over 50 presentations, this year's Expert Forum is bigger than ever and has truly something for everyone. We are looking forward to great and exciting presentations on the latest topics in the industry," adds Christoph Nowak. The 2024 topics at a glance: "Future topics in surface technology", "Processes/technologies for increasing energy and material efficiency or reducing the CO2 footprint", "Lightweight construction and surface technology", "New processes in electroplating", "Physical surface treatment processes - thermal spraying, PVD/CVD and related technologies", "Application and use of treated surfaces", "Digitalisation in surface technology", "Sustainability in surface technology companies" and also "Systems/equipment/processes for surface treatment". This year, the Fraunhofer IPA will once again present the traditional "DIE OBERFLÄCHE" award.

CastForge and Automotives Shows run in parallel

Exhibitors and visitors to SurfaceTechnology GERMANY will benefit from the events taking place at the same time: CastForge, the trade fair for cast and forged parts with machining in Halls 3 and 5, the Automotive Testing Expo in Halls 8 and 10 and the ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo in Hall 6. Anyone with a ticket for one of these trade fairs can visit all of them.
